1. Introduction

ShankLab ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Holy Schmitt Studios. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services at shanklab.golf.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account Information: Name, email address, and profile photo provided through Google sign-in via Clerk authentication.
Swing Data: Video frames you upload for analysis, tagged swing phases, and AI-generated analysis results including scores, flaws, drills, and practice plans.
Golfer Profile: Optional information you provide such as handedness, handicap, skill level, typical miss, goals, and practice frequency.
Payment Information: Billing details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card information directly.
Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our service, including analysis counts and feature usage.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain our swing analysis service
To personalize your analysis based on your golfer profile
To process payments and manage your subscription
To track your progress and display analysis history
To improve our AI analysis accuracy and service quality
To communicate with you about your account or service updates

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Clerk: Authentication and user management
Supabase: Database and file storage
Anthropic (Claude): AI-powered swing analysis
Stripe: Payment processing
Vercel: Website hosting

Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in Supabase (hosted on AWS). We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and implement row-level security policies on our database. Swing frame images are stored alongside your analysis results and are only accessible to your account.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your swing images are sent to Anthropic's Claude API solely for the purpose of generating your analysis. When you use the "Share" feature, a public link is created that allows anyone with the link to view that specific analysis.

7. Data Contribution Program

ShankLab offers an optional Data Contribution Program that allows you to help improve our analysis technology. This program is strictly opt-in and can be enabled or disabled at any time from your Golfer Profile settings.

When you opt in:

Your uploaded swing videos may be used to train and improve our AI analysis models.
All contributed data is anonymized before use: faces are blurred, EXIF metadata is stripped, and all personally identifiable information is removed.
Anonymized data is used solely to improve analysis accuracy and service quality.

You can opt out of the Data Contribution Program at any time. Upon opting out, no new data will be collected from your account. However, previously anonymized data that has already been incorporated into model training may be retained, as it is no longer linked to your identity.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access and download your analysis data
Delete individual analyses from your account
Update or delete your golfer profile
Delete your account entirely through your account settings
Request a copy of all data we hold about you

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (managed by Clerk) and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

10. Children's Privacy

ShankLab is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
