Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

ShankLab ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Holy Schmitt Studios LLC, an Illinois limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website at shanklab.golf and the ShankLab iOS app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: Name, email address, and profile photo provided through sign-in via Clerk authentication (Google or email).
• Golf Activity: Rounds you log, including hole-by-hole scores, putts, fairways, penalties, and free-text notes; game plans you build and the courses and tee times you pick for them; your answers to post-round debrief questions, including any note you add; live-round progress; and practice or drill activity.
• Swing Media: Video you film or upload for swing analysis, the frames and swing phases you tag, and the coaching results generated from them.
• Scorecard Photos: Photos of paper scorecards you scan. These are processed to read the scores and are not retained after processing.
• Coach Conversations: Your coach chat conversations — the messages you send and the replies you receive.
• Golfer Profile & Bag: Optional information such as handedness, handicap, skill level, typical miss, goals, practice frequency, and the clubs you carry.
• Feedback: Reports you submit about an analysis, including any description you write.
• Payment Information: Billing details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card information.
• Usage & Diagnostics: Which features you use (such as logging a round or building a plan), and crash and error reports — including stack traces and basic device information — so we can find and fix problems.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the coaching features: game plans built from your rounds, profile, and debrief answers; round analysis; swing analysis; and coach chat
• To track your progress and display your history
• To process payments and manage your subscription
• To understand which features are used, and to find and fix crashes and errors
• To communicate with you about your account or service updates

4. How Coaching Is Generated

ShankLab's coaching output — game plans, round and swing analysis, progress insights, swing comparisons, practice plans, scorecard reading, and chat replies, among other coaching features — is generated using Anthropic's Claude models. To produce it, the relevant data (for example your round history, golfer profile, debrief answers, swing frames, scorecard photos, or chat messages) is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic acts as a service provider and, under its commercial API terms, does not use this data to train its models.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Clerk: Authentication and user management
• Supabase: Database and file storage (hosted on AWS)
• Anthropic (Claude): Generates the coaching output described above
• Stripe: Payment processing
• Vercel: Website and API hosting
• PostHog: Product analytics and error tracking. We record which features you use and any crashes or errors, tied to your account (including your name and email) so web and app activity connect to one profile. We do not use session replay, and we do not sell this data.
• Open-Meteo: Weather forecasts for game plans. Only the golf course's coordinates are sent — never your identity or location.
• GolfCourseAPI: Course and tee data. Only your course search text and the identifier of the course you select are sent — never your identity.
• Expo (EAS): Delivers app updates to the iOS app; receives basic device and app-version information.
• Apple: App distribution through TestFlight and the App Store.

Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in Supabase (hosted on AWS). We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and your data is only accessible to your account through our servers. Swing videos you upload and the frame images extracted from them are stored alongside your analysis results, and are removed when you delete the analysis.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your data is shared only with the service providers listed above, and only as needed to run ShankLab. When you use the "Share" feature, a public link is created that allows anyone with the link to view that specific analysis.

8. Notifications

Game-plan reminders (the night before and shortly before your tee time) are scheduled locally on your device. They are never sent through a server, and you can turn them off in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings at any time.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• View and update your rounds, swing analyses, golfer profile, and bag in the app
• Delete individual rounds and swing analyses (currently on the web app at shanklab.golf)
• Request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data

To request a copy of your data, deletion of anything not deletable in the app (such as your golfer profile), or full account deletion, email privacy@shanklab.golf from your account's email address. We complete deletion requests within 30 days.

10. Cookies and Local Storage

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management (managed by Clerk). PostHog analytics stores a first-party cookie and browser local storage so your sessions connect to one profile. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party ad trackers, or session replay.

11. Children's Privacy

ShankLab is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
